Colin Powell, who never supported a radical, liberal, white guy with no experience in his entire life, is a perfect example of why you shouldn’t vote for a candidate based on the color of their skin or how ‘cool’ they are. Colin Powell couldn’t of been naive enough to vote on ‘hope and change’ as Obama lies almost as much as Al Gore does.

Like millions of other Americans, Colin Powell got conned. It’s going to get a lot worse down the road as Obama has an agenda and could care a less what Powell has to say about it. Barack Obama is a brainwashed radical marxist, and after 25 years of having marxism drilled in his head, it would be a really hard sell to convince him that his policies are a guaranteed failure waiting to happen.

Just look at the stimulus ‘pay back those who helped me con America into becoming the President’ bill. He knew it wouldn’t help the economy. Maybe he should of actually read the bill before he signed it; another Obama lie. That stimulus was an 8 year liberal democrat wish and gift list that they created because they have control of the house.

Obama figured with the spineless, ‘guilty white journalist’ press on his side, he could get away with blaming Bush if the economy didn’t turn around. He’s actually blaming Bush for the destruction he created himself, while making the economy worse and killing jobs faster than any President in U.S history. Hows that ‘hope and change’ working out for ya?

AP-Colin Powell, who broke ranks with the Republican Party last year to endorse Barack Obama, now worries that the president’s agenda is increasing the size of government and the federal debt to alarming levels.

“I’m concerned at the number of programs that are being presented, the bills associated with these programs and the additional government that will be needed to execute them,” the former secretary of state told CNN in an interview to air Sunday.

Powell offered the president some standard Republican advice:

“The right answer is, give me a government that works, keep it as small as possible,” said Powell, who said he stays in touch with Obama and has spoken to him recently.

Obama wants to overhaul the health care system and take on climate change while also helping the country emerge from the recession.

“I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I’ve talked to some of his people about this — is that you can’t have so many things on the table that you can’t absorb it all. And we can’t pay for it all,” Powell said.

“And I never would have believed that we would have budgets that are running into the multi-trillions of dollars, and we are amassing a huge, huge national debt that, if we don’t pay for in our lifetime, our kids and grandkids and great grandchildren will have to pay for it.”

It’s not a new theme for Powell.

He complained about the government’s size and intrusiveness in his 1996 speech to the Republican National Convention. He said then that the nation no longer could afford more entitlements, higher taxes and more bureaucracy. In the interview with CNN’s “State of the Union” that is to air Sunday, Powell said he hasn’t changed his mind.

“Keep it as small as possible. Keep the tax burden on the American people as small as possible, but at the same time, have government that is solving the problems of the people,” he said.

He said Obama “has to start really taking a very, very hard look at what the cost of all this is. And how much additional bureaucracy and will it be effective bureaucracy.”

Gore was not asked during his April 24, 2009 Congressional hearing how he can link climate skeptics to people who believed the moon landing was “staged” when two prominent moonwalkers themselves are man-made global warming skeptics.

NASA’s Dr. Aldrin — who earned a Doctorate of Science in Astronautics at MIT — declared he was skeptical of man-made climate fears in a July 3, 2009 UK Telegraph interview.

“I think the climate has been changing for billions of years,” Aldrin, the second person to walk on the Moon, said. On July 20, 1969, Aldrin and astronaut Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo 11 moonwalk, becoming the first two humans to set foot on the Moon. According to his bio, “Aldrin has received three U.S. patents for his schematics of a modular space station, Starbooster reusable rockets, and multi-crew modules for space flight.” Aldrin was also decorated with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest American peacetime award and he has received numerous distinguished awards and medals from 23 other countries.

“If it’s warming now, it may cool off later. I’m not in favor of just taking short-term isolated situations and depleting our resources to keep our climate just the way it is today,” Aldrin explained.

“I’m not necessarily of the school that we are causing it all, I think the world is causing it,” Aldrin added.

Aldrin joins fellow moonwalker Schmitt, who flew on the Apollo 17 mission, in declaring their skepticism of man-made global warming fears.

“The ‘global warming scare’ is being used as a political tool to increase government control over American lives, incomes and decision making. The year is 2020 and the gasoline tax is history. In its place you get a monthly tax bill based on each mile you drove — tracked by a Global Positioning System device in your car and uploaded to a billing center.

What once was science fiction is being field-tested by the University of Iowa to iron out the wrinkles should a by-the-mile road tax ever be enacted.

Besides the technological advances making such a tax possible, the idea is getting a hard push from a growing number of transportation experts and officials. That is because the traditional by-the-gallon fuel tax, struggling to keep up with road building and maintenance demands, could fall even farther behind as vehicles’ gas mileage rises and more alternative-fuel vehicles come on line.

The idea of shifting to a by-the-mile tax has been discussed for years, but it now appears to be getting more serious attention. A federal commission, after a two-year study, concluded earlier this year that the road tax was the “best path forward” to keep revenues flowing to highway and transportation projects, and could be an important new tool to help manage traffic and relieve congestion.

The decision by the 15-member National Surface Transportation Infrastructure Financing Commission was unanimous, which surprised Robert Atkinson, the group’s chairman. But he said it became clear as the commission’s work progressed that a road tax on miles traveled was the best option.

“If you’re committed to the system being improved then it was a no-brainer,” he said.

The U.S. is ready to join the rest of the world in a climate pact for the first time in history, Bloomberg reports.

The U.S. is joining other developed countries for the first time in saying global greenhouse gases should peak by 2020 and the average worldwide temperature shouldn’t rise more than 2 degrees Celsius, according to a draft document of the Group of Eight industrialized nations.

“This is a crucial year for taking rapid and effective global action to combat climate change,” according to the text, not yet final, that is being negotiated by government officials ahead of next week’s G-8 summit in L’Aquila, Italy. The draft was circulated by nongovernmental organizations.

World leaders at the gathering, including President Barack Obama, also will discuss a new climate treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol after it expires in 2012. Almost 200 countries are set to gather in Copenhagen in December to debate terms for a new accord to combat rising temperatures and sea levels.

Obama, who will be chairman of the climate meeting, will be watched by other leaders for signals on where the U.S. stands on issues such as emissions-reduction targets and how much rich nations should do to help poorer countries deal with the impacts of climate change.

The Democratic president will arrive in Italy with a victory to promote after the U.S. House approved legislation last week that would set the first-ever U.S. cap on greenhouse gases from power plants, factories and other sources. The Senate hasn’t yet acted on a measure.

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank has a plan to funnel income from the government’s $700 billion bailout fund toward the housing sector.

The powerful Massachusetts Democrat last week quietly introduced legislation that aims to use $1 billion in dividends paid by the recipients of government aid to provide rental housing opportunities for low-income and homeless families. The money would go into a national housing trust fund established last summer in connection with legislation that allowed for Fannie Mae (FNM) and Freddie Mac (FRE) to be placed under government conservatorship.

The fund currently is empty, however President Barack Obama’s fiscal year 2010 budget calls for it to receive $ 1 billion - a sum the Frank legislation would provide.

“This would be the seed money to get the trust fund up and running,” said Danna Fischer, legislative director for the National Low Income Housing Coalition.

Fischer said the trust aims to garner $150 billion in total funding over the next decade.

Frank said it is feasible to use income from the Troubled Asset Relief Fund, known as TARP, to finance the trust for at least “a couple of years.”

Frank’s legislation also proposes funneling $1.5 billion in TARP dividend payments to state and local government efforts to redevelop abandoned and foreclosed properties.

“We made some money on this. It’s now reasonable to use some of that to deal with these problems,” Frank said.

Banks participating in TARP have so far paid the U.S. Treasury more than $4.9 billion in dividends.

Separately, Frank’s legislation aims to reallocate some funds from the TARP itself.

The legislation would divert $2 billion in TARP dollars to an emergency mortgage relief program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and another $2 billion for HUD to use for the creation of a program to cope with foreclosures on multifamily properties.

Government: It’s been suggested that the White House has more czars than the Russian Romanov dynasty. Has the administration forgotten that we have a government of elected officials, not of imperial appointments?

Czars, or functionaries with the task of ensuring White House commands are followed, have been part of the U.S. government for decades. It’s unclear, though, how many are in this administration, as it is not an official title. PolitiFact.com from the St. Petersburg Times believes the count has swelled to as many as 28 under President Obama.

Many of these czars, most of whom are useless or counterproductive, are sitting in newly created positions. They range from Kenneth Feinberg, the pay czar who is the special master on executive compensation, to Earl Devaney, who, as the stimulus accountability czar, will chair the Recovery Act Transparency and Accountability Board. Others among the 28 include:

• Green jobs czar. This post is held by Van Jones. Officially he is Obama’s special adviser for enterprise and innovation at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.

Jones was a founder and leader of Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement. The group, now disbanded, had Marxist, Leninist and Maoist influences.

Jones admitted that he became a communist and radical after the officers accused of using excessive force on Rodney King were acquitted. He’s supposedly a reformed anti-capitalist, but not everyone is convinced.

• TARP czar. Herb Allison is assistant secretary of the Treasury for financial stability. There’s nothing alarming in his background, but there should be concerns about the position he’s filling.

• Great Lakes czar. Cameron Davis is a special adviser overseeing the EPA’s Great Lakes restoration plan. He’s president of the Chicago-based Alliance for the Great Lakes conservation group.

• Science czar. John Holdren is an ideologue who frets over global warming (junk science) and is a pessimist (in 1980 he thought the world was running out of natural resources) and misanthrope (he’s favored population control).

• Climate czar. Before Todd Stern was appointed, he was a senior fellow at the left-wing Center for American Progress. His empty rhetoric on global warming can hardly be distinguished from that of Al Gore.

• Car czar. Ed Montgomery, a University of Maryland dean, economist and a Labor Department deputy secretary in the Clinton administration, is director of recovery for auto communities and workers. He’s no raving leftist, but he is discharging a duty the government should never have.

• Guantanamo closure czar. Danny Fried has the duty of overseeing the closure of the military detention center at Guantanamo Bay. The longtime diplomat has to navigate the fulfillment of Obama’s promise to shut down Gitmo, a promise that helped get Obama elected but was always foolish.

• Faith-based czar. Dare we say that Joshua DuBois, director of the Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is a community organizer? The 26-year-old pastor worked for Democratic Congressmen Rush Holt of New Jersey and Charles Rangel of New York.

• Urban affairs Czar. The White House has a director of urban affairs — Adolfo Carrion Jr. — but no czar for rural affairs. What does that say about how this administration values country folks?

• Regulatory czar. Obama wants to fill this post with Cass Sunstein, the Harvard law professor who has suggested “that animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives,” against people in our civil court system. Sunstein would likely do a fine job of regulating the country into paralysis.

The growth of a czarist regime is not healthy in a representative republic. When the executive branch isn’t checked by the Supreme Court, which shouldn’t let the president make fiat law, and Congress, which constitutionally confirms or denies a president’s nominees for “public ministers,” a risky imbalance of power arises.

Someone who considers himself a defender of the Constitution — say Robert Byrd, the West Virginia Democrat who believes presidents intentionally try to bypass Congress by naming czars — should challenge the administration in court.

The White House shouldn’t be center of a dynasty.

The unemployment rate in June jumped to 9.5 percent, the highest since 1983, as 467,000 jobs were lost, yet the CBS Evening News managed to air a story that didn’t mention President Barack Obama or his “stimulus” bill while the NBC story only touched Obama’s policies by running a soundbite of the President defending the lack of positive impact so far from his policies: “It took years for us to get into this mess and it will take us more than a few months to turn it around.” CBS reporter Anthony Mason remarked: “Hopefully it’s a one-month blip.”

In contrast, ABC anchor Charles Gibson teased Thursday’s World News: “Tonight, job jolt. Unemployment reaches a 26-year high. Where are all those jobs the economic stimulus was supposed to produce?” Setting up ABC’s lead (CBS and NBC began with Michael Jackson), Gibson proposed: “The rising unemployment raises questions about the economic stimulus, which was supposed to create jobs.”

Annandale, Va. (AP) - President Barack Obama wanted to put a human face on his plans to overhaul health care, and a Virginia supporter did just that Wednesday.

Fighting back tears, Debby Smith, 53, told Obama of her kidney cancer and her inability to obtain health insurance or hold a job. The president hugged her — she’s a volunteer for his political operation — and called her “exhibit A” in an unsustainable system that is too expensive and complex for millions of Americans.

“We are going to try to find ways to help you immediately,” he told Smith as hundreds looked on at a community college forum — and countless others watched on television. But the nation’s long-term needs require a greater emphasis on preventive care and “cost-effective care,” he said.

Smith, of Appalachia, Va., is a volunteer for Organizing for America, Obama’s political operation within the Democratic National Committee. She obtained her ticket through the White House.

The health care changes that Obama called for Wednesday would reshape the nation’s medical landscape. He says he wants to cover nearly 50 million uninsured Americans, to persuade doctors to stress quality over quantity of care, to squeeze billions of dollars from spending.

But details on exactly how to do those things were generally lacking in his hour-long town hall forum before a friendly, hand-picked audience in a Washington suburb. The lingering questions underscore the tough negotiations awaiting Congress, the administration and dozens of special interest groups in the coming months. Lawmakers will return to debating the issue when they return from a one-week recess on Monday.

Some of Obama’s questioners Wednesday were from friendly sources, including a member of the Service Employees International Union and a member of Health Care for America Now, which organized a Capitol Hill rally last week calling for an overhaul. White House aides selected other questions submitted by people on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Republicans said the event was a political sham designed to help Obama, not to inform the public.

“Americans are already skeptical about the cost and adverse impact of the president’s health care plans,” Republican National Committee spokesman Trevor Francis said. “Stacking the audience and preselecting questions may make for a good TV, but it’s the wrong way to engage in a meaningful discussion about reforming health care.”

Obama made no new proposals at the sometimes emotional event. But he vigorously defended his plans while fielding seven questions from the live audience at the forum and on the Internet.

The president would bar insurance companies from turning down applicants because of their “pre-existing conditions.” He would establish health care exchanges that would spread the costs of treating patients such as Smith over a large number of people.

Obama called for shifting huge sums of money from current health care spending to new goals. About two-thirds of the overall new costs “will come from reallocating money that is already being spent in the health care system but isn’t being spent wisely,” he said.

He restated his pledge to cut $177 billion over the next decade from Medicare Advantage insurance plans. And he noted that doctors, hospitals, corporations and others have promised to decrease the annual rate of spending growth by 1.5 percent, or $2 trillion over 10 years.

Such savings are not guaranteed, however, and many Republican lawmakers say Obama’s plans will prove too costly.

“The biggest thing we can do to hold down costs is to change the incentives of a health care system that automatically equates expensive care with better care,” the president said. He said the formula system drives up costs “but doesn’t make you better.”

Obama did not make specific recommendations for changing the incentive formulas.

One questioner said limits on awards from medical malpractice lawsuits would bring down health care costs.

Obama replied, “I don’t like the idea of an artificial cap” on such awards for a patient’s injuries. He also said there was little evidence that various states’ efforts to limit such awards have uniformly brought down costs.

Obama said, however, that he is working with the American Medical Association to explore ways to reduce liability for doctors and hospitals “when they’ve done nothing wrong.” He offered no specifics for a problem that has vexed the medical and legal industries for decades.

The president repeatedly said the current health care system is not acceptable and must be overhauled this year. He urged the audience, which included people following on Facebook and YouTube, to reject critics who say his plans are too costly or a step toward socialized medicine.

Obama said a government-run “single-payer” health care system works well in some countries. But it is not appropriate in the United States, he said, because so many people get insurance through their employers working with private companies.

Jeffrey Deskovic, speaking about his 16 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit

The nomination by President Obama of 2nd Circuit Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court is more than alarming to an innocent man who was convicted of murder and spent 16 years in prison before being cleared and released.

Jeff Deskovic, whose pursuit of freedom has been chronicled by the New York Times and others, told WND that the last six of those years are directly attributable to decisions endorsed by Sotomayor.

“I’m very alarmed,” he said. “The rest of my life, as a result of my ordeal, is dedicated to preventing this from happening to other people.”

Sotomayor in her 2nd Circuit position repeatedly put “procedure over innocence” and rejected appeals that could have provided Deskovic with his freedom much earlier than it actually happened, he told WND.

He blames the prosecutors and others in his original case for getting his conviction and sentence, but he blames Sotomayor – and the other judge on the 2nd Circuit panel – for the last six years he remained in prison.

The other judge, he told WND, is equally culpable, but is not now being nominated for the highest court in the land.

The background of the case is all over the public record. He was arrested and accused of assaulting and killing 15-year-old Angela Correa in 1989 and went on trial in 1990 when he was 17.

The fact that DNA on the victim didn’t match him was explained away by prosecutors who claimed the victim could have had consensual sex before she was killed.

His sentence was 15 years to life in prison. Eventually he ran out of state court appeals procedures, and then was given until April 24, 1997, to demand habeas corpus.

The EPA Is Wrong

•False Assumptions: Proponents of cap and trade point to the low cost estimates by the EPA and CBO as a reason to pass Waxman-Markey. The EPA underestimates that the bill would cost households an additional $140 a year.
•Based on Consumption: The EPA’s numbers are based on consumption changes, which are typically less than income changes, as families respond to income losses by saving less.
•Uses Discounting: Discounting is a reasonable approach for comparing costs and benefits that occur at widely different times. However, costs of climate change rarely use a discounted rate this high. Without discounting, the impact per household is $1,288 in 2050. Adjusting household size to reflect a family of four raises this cost to over $1,900.
•Assumes Rebates: The EPA assumes all the allowance proceeds will be rebated directly to consumers. This clearly isn’t the case, since most of the allowances have been promised to industry.
•No New Taxes?The loss that the EPA calculates doesn’t include the cost of the energy tax to consumers, since the EPA assumes that all of the money is rebated. The cost of the energy tax is actually $4,600 per family of four in 2035.
The CBO Is Wrong

•False Assumptions: CBO underestimates that the bill would cost households $175 in 2020. They assume that the carbon tax isn’t a tax if the government spends the money. When have Americans ever seen all of a tax returned to them? It’s like suggesting your tax rebate will be as large as the amount taken from your paycheck every year.
•Numbers Don’t Add Up: The CBO’s allowance cost numbers don’t add up. They say the allowance price will be $28. Since there are 5.056 billion tons of CO2 equivalent in the cap that year, that implies a $141 billion gross cost. They list $91.4 billion.
•Hard to Believe: In the CBO’s June 5 analysis, they projected allowance revenues of $119.7 billion, $129.7 billion, $136 billion, $145.6 billion and $152.9 billion for the years 2015-2019. It’s hard to believe that the next number in that series would be $91.4 billion.
•Ignores Economic Damage: The CBO doesn’t include the decrease in GDP as a result of the bill. The GDP hit in 2020 would be $161 billion (in 2009 dollars) according to our analysis. For a family of four, that is $1,870 that they ignore.

US employers shed 467,000 jobs in June, pushing the unemployment rate to a fresh 26-year high of 9.5 percent, the Labor Department reported Thursday. Analysts had expected a smaller number of 365,000 job losses, but a higher unemployment rate of 9.6 percent. The jobless rate in May was 9.4 percent. The agency revised its estimates for May to show fewer job cuts — 322,000 instead of 345,000. But the April figure was revised from a loss of 504,000 to 519,000 jobs.

Is Barack Obama intentionally destroying the economy and hoping for higher unemployment to create ‘zero liability’ voters to have more control over Americans? It’s starting to look that way..

President Obama said that the government is going to “fix what is broken about health care in America.” It sounds like a great idea, but often what sounds good has unintended consequences.

John Stossel discovers some dead-serious drawbacks to socialized medicine.When the government takes over, many critics say that you may not get the care and breakthroughs you need to save your life.

“The only way they can get costs down under a government-run system is to control the amount of money that is spent on health care,” says Sally Pipes of the Pacific Research Institute, who was born in Canada, and is wary about government taking the reins of health care in the U.S.

“We are going to have denied care, lack of access to the latest technology, and long waiting lists, just like people do in Canada and Great Britain,” she warns.

In those countries, the government pays for all health care, and bureaucrats put limits on spending in order to control costs. They determine how much doctors can be reimbursed and put caps on the amount of money that can be spent on treatments.

The result of all this cost-cutting? People wait for care.

In England, shortages of dentists have caused hundreds of people to wait in line just for an appointment. The queues can be so long that some people have resorted to pulling out their own rotting teeth, using vodka and pliers as tools. One British hospital even tried to save money by not changing bed sheets. Instead of washing them, a British newspaper reported that the staff was encouraged to simply turn the sheets over. At any given time in Great Britain, there are over half a million people waiting to get into a hospital for treatments.

But Obama has said he doesn’t want a government takeover of health care.

“When you hear the naysayers claim that I’m trying to bring about government-run health care,” he told the American Medical Association last week, “know this — they’re not telling the truth.”
